We are so proud of how the UT Elementary School community has pulled together under the city’s precautionary boil water notice. We just received this message from the University of Texas Campus Safety Division advising that the boil water notice is now MANDATORY.
Dear University Community,
This afternoon we learned that the City of Austin has made the boil water precautionary notice mandatory following a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality report that the water exceeded the standards of contaminants present late Tuesday evening. This does not change how we are proceeding here on campus. You should continue what you’ve been doing under the boil water notice.
We have also been informed that the City of Austin has set up water distribution stations.
More and more the emphasis from Austin Water is on conserving water so the short supply can be appropriately managed. The university is abiding by these water restrictions but we need your help. Please minimize your overall water use and if you have families in Austin, encourage them to do the same.
The university remains open, our Housing and Dining and University Unions remain open, and our community continues to demonstrate its resiliency and go about the day-to-day of changing the world. Thank you again for the collaboration and kindnesses shown.
