There are a number of ways to make an impact at the UT Elementary through giving.
Cash, Checks, Credit Cards
Outright gifts of cash, by check or credit card, are the easiest gifts to make. They are also tax deductible in the year given. UT Elementary also gratefully accepts pledges — gifts that are paid over time. You can make a pledge commitment and set up a payment schedule that works best for you.
To make a gift by credit card, you can give or make a pledge now using our secure server. Cash gifts made by check (payable to The University of Texas at Austin) should be mailed with a letter stating your gift’s purpose to:

Gifts of Stock
Gifts of appreciated securities and closely held stock can be extremely beneficial — both to you and to UT Elementary. You may receive an income-tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the securities, as well as reduce or eliminate capital gains taxes. Gifts of stock and mutual funds are coordinated by UT System Office of Development and Gift Planning Services. Proceeds from the sale of these assets are directed to any program you wish. To learn more, please contact our team.
Gift & Estate Planning
Planned gifts can be made now or deferred to a later time. Some enable you to support UT Elementary, receive tax benefits, and sustain your current lifestyle. Such gifts include bequests through a will, retirement plan assets, and charitable trusts. To learn more about planned giving to UT Elementary, please contact our team.
Endowments
When you create an endowment, you can honor someone important to you while providing permanent support to UT Elementary. The money is invested, and each year a distribution is made from the endowment to support the program or area of your choice. To learn more about creating an endowment for a UT Elementary program, please contact our team.
Matching Gifts
You may be able to double or even triple your gift to UT Elementary. Many employers sponsor matching gift programs to match charitable contributions made by their employees. To find out if your company does, check our matching service or visit your company’s human resources department. Complete the form provided by your company and mail it to:

Payroll Deduction for Faculty and Staff
Are you a UT employee? If so, you can give to UT Elementary through payroll deduction. Log on to UT Direct using your EID and password. On the right side of the page, scroll down to “Personal Info” and click on the “Giving to UT” link. The page for making gifts through payroll deduction to UT will appear. Make your selections and click on “Submit.”
Payroll deduction for a gift made by the 15th of the month will begin the following month; e.g., the first deduction for a gift made on June 10 will appear on your July 1 paycheck. Payroll deduction for a gift made after the 15th of the month will begin the second month following the gift; e.g., the first deduction for a gift made on June 20 will appear on your August 1 paycheck. The deductions will be reflected in your Payroll Earnings Statement under “Charitable Contributions.”
Nonmonetary Gifts
A nonmonetary gift is also known as an “in-kind gift” and a “non-cash gift.” Common examples are equipment, historical items, art, books, furniture, software, silent auction items, and donors’ expenses to host university events. The IRS does not allow gifts of partial interest (e.g., offering hotel rooms or loaning an item) or services, including advertising, to count as charitable gifts.
Nonmonetary gifts are important to the university; for example, such gifts can substantially increase the value of a collection or provide significant cost-savings on equipment that would otherwise need to be purchased. The donor also receives benefits, including a tax deduction and university recognition of the gift. For more information, please contact our team.
