On May May 22, UT Elementary School held its annual Fifth Grade Completion and Senior Recognition Ceremony. UTES is the 1st university-sponsored public charter school in the state of Texas and is part of the UT Charter School System.
This year UTES graduated its 10th class of fifth graders – to go along with three classes of alums who have graduated from high school. Among its graduates is Alexis Blackman, who just completed her first year at the “Big UT” majoring in electrical engineering. She was the first ever UTES grad to attend UT Austin. This year, she will be joined by two more UTES graduates – William Nstoane and Valerie Crist.
Thank you to UT Associate Vice President and UT Charter School Superintendent Dr. Melissa Chavez, UTES Principal Tonya King, the teachers and staff for creating a model of excellence for East Austin.
