On January 9, UT Elementary was buzzing with excitement as students proudly presented their research projects during our annual STEAM Science Fair. This event serves as a cornerstone of our commitment to fostering curiosity, creativity, and a passion for learning among our young scholars.
The success of this year’s fair was made possible by the incredible support from our community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us from the 40 Acres and the greater Austin community to serve as judges. Special thanks go to our partners at HNTB, EcoRise, and the faculty and students from the UT College of Education and UT College of Natural Sciences for dedicating their time and expertise to inspire the next generation of thinkers and innovators. Your guidance and encouragement left a lasting impact on our students, fueling their enthusiasm for STEAM education.
This year’s event, led by the tireless efforts of STEAM teacher, Mr. Koeffler, was a remarkable success. Students showcased a wide range of projects, reflecting their hard work, critical thinking, and creativity. Projects included: how much time it takes for different liquids to dissolve salt, the effects of music on plant growth, which beverages stain your teeth and a teacher favorite, which classroom door handle consistently had the most germs.
“I am incredibly grateful to be a part of such a powerful and affirming community of stakeholders. Together, we planted the seeds for future scientists, artists, and engineers to grow and develop! This event could not have been possible without our volunteers generously donating their time and expertise.” – Mr. Koeffler
We are proud to announce that 12 of our students have advanced as regional qualifiers to the Greater Austin Regional Science and Engineering Fair, that takes place on February 22, 2025.
We look forward to cheering on these talented young scientists as they take the next step in their academic journey. Thank you once again to our dedicated community of supporters for making this event so special. Together, we are shaping a bright future for our students and our world.
