Applications for Pre-Kindergarten for 4-year-olds are now open from April 4, 2025, with a deadline of May 15, 2025, for the school lottery, which will take place on May 19, 2025. After the deadline, applications will continue to be accepted for any available spots or to be placed on the Pre-K waitlist.
Please note that we have a limited number of spots available, and priority enrollment will be given to residents of our targeted service area.
UT Elementary was created to serve families in East Austin. Priority is given to residents of our targeted service area with includes the following zip codes:

*Attendance Area Note
In the event that UT Elementary has class vacancies with no waitlist from the priority attendance area, UT Elementary can enroll students beyond our target area. Our charter allows us to admit students whose families reside within the home school district boundaries of:
- Austin ISD
- Del Valle ISD
- Eanes ISD
- Hays CISD
- Leander ISD
- Manor ISD
- Pflugerville ISD
UT Elementary Pre-K classes are taught by highly qualified, certified teachers and a teacher assistant with a student/teacher ratio of 22:2. Pre-K4 follows the UT Elementary School 10 month calendar beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 3:30 p.m. each day (Monday-Friday).
- Children must be 4 years of age on or before September 1 to enroll.
- Important Note: Pre-K students must re-enter the lottery for admission to UT Elementary for Kindergarten, unless they have a sibling currently attending the school.
UT Elementary offers two Pre-K program options: the Tuition-Supported Pre-K and the Federal Pre-K Program that is available at no cost for qualifying families.
Tuition Supported Pre-K
- Application fee of $35 is due once the application is processed by the business office.
- Monthly tuition fee is $725.
- A non-refundable deposit of $150 is due upon accepting an offer for enrollment. This deposit will be applied toward the tuition for August.
Federal Pre-K Program
To qualify for the free Federal Pre-K program, families must provide documentation supporting one or more of the following criteria:

- Limited English speaker (an assessment will be conducted)
- Eligibility for free or reduced lunch
- Military or foster child status
- Child of an individual eligible for the Star of Texas Award as a peace officer, firefighter, or emergency medical first responder.
All applicants must complete the required application, which includes the Texas Education Agency Charter School Admission Application, the Income Eligibility Form or Tuition Agreement, and the Home Language Survey. Additionally, the necessary supporting documents must be submitted as listed below.
UTES Pre-K Application
The following items are required to be submitted with each application (tuition or free):
- Child’s birth certificate
- Social Security Card (if available)
- Proof of residency (Most recent electricity bill or rental lease/contract)
- Parent photo I.D.
- Financial (only required if applying for the Federal Pre-K program) Proof of income is a current pay stub (last 2 if you are paid weekly) or SNAP/Medicaid Eligibility Letter.
