On Saturday, September 23, UT Elementary School families teamed up with the nation-wide Hispanic Googlers Network (HOLA) and the Subiendo Leadership Council from the McCombs School of Business for a “Green Day” on campus. The volunteers and families built new raised garden beds, sanded all of the wooden handrails, and deep-cleaned classrooms.
HOLA members came from Google offices throughout the country to attend a conference which coincided with “Green Day.” Making time to participate in the UTES community service project was a top priority for the HOLA members and the school and its students were so thankful for their time and support.
While on campus, HOLA members also spent one-on-one time with the UT Subiendo students and provided career and life advice. The Googlers reported that they loved Austin and the friendly atmosphere in the city. Thanks to all that pitched in to “green” up the UT Elementary School campus.
