At UT Elementary, we believe every child deserves the support they need to learn, grow, and thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally. Our Student Support Services are designed to ensure that all students feel safe, connected, and empowered throughout their school experience. Grounded in a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), our student supports include the use of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and classroom based Social and Emotional Learning (SEL).
These services are supported by our School Social Work team, and aim to create a proactive, inclusive, and trauma-informed learning environment. Whether a student needs help navigating big emotions, support building friendships, or access to mental health or community resources, our team is here to help. We work closely with teachers, families, and caregivers to ensure each child receives the right support at the right time.

Social Work Interns at UT Elementary
Each year, UT Elementary partners with graduate-level social work interns from universities across Texas, including The University of Texas at Austin, Texas State University, and others. These interns are an integral part of our social and emotional learning ecosystem, supporting students and families through classroom lessons, individual and small group interventions, and family engagement efforts. Under the supervision of the School Social Work Coordinator, interns help build a safe, supportive school environment by leading social-emotional skill-building groups, assisting with crisis response, and collaborating with teachers and caregivers to meet students’ holistic needs. Their presence strengthens our trauma-informed practices and enhances the well-being of our school community.
